    • @Endless possibilities America is only the country that is dealing with the most mass shooting. USA had a total of 288 school shootings, 2nd highest country only has 8 and it’s Mexico. Over 100 countries has 0 school shootings. Let that sink in. I didn’t include church, mall and other public areas in America. A lot of people in Europe in their 40’s and 50’s never heard a single gunshot throughout their whole life

    • @Dark Knight Mentality Yeah I get that. In my school we did fine having armed officers, but that doesn’t represent every school. The main issue we should all see eye to eye on is that there are a ridiculous amount of mass shootings in America and something needs to change. And it ain’t the doors that need to change.

    • @The Shawn Murphy Journal but we can agree that mass shootings are a major problem in this country right? And that we need to do something about it? Let’s start there and if you don’t agree on that then I can’t respect your opinion.

Lock the doors to every school and there should be armed security guards at every single school in the states! That will stop this if they can just make it into laws. All politicians need to step up in a United way. Come together and add extra security. Can’t listen to political speech all the time. We need action not both parties attacking each while we all suffer.

    • 2 problems with your solution. 1)There was an ARMED school security officer on the scene and TWO armed police officers who followed the dude into the school. They exchanged gunfire with him but it didn't STOP him from barricading himself in that classroom and KILLING 19 children, 2 teachers and who knows how many were injured. 2) Schools can't keep all doors locked because it is a FIRE HAZARD.

    • @Luke Canale How could he not be emotional? Kerr was only 19 years old when his dad was gunned down....and he was still older than the Uvalde shooter. Kerr's more angry about the fact that a High School student was able to buy 375 rounds of ammunition + 2 rifles within three days of his 18th birthday. And judging by the store hours (I looked it up) + date of purchase + the shooter's tendency to ditch class, it's highly likely that he skipped class to buy guns. And stricter background checks -- which is what Kerr was talking about -- is not even a "political" debate especially when the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of the population agrees on it.

  • I feel deeply for the parents of these children. This is a tragic event of great proportion that needs to be recognized as a sign of the times... who we are as a people. What are our values? Someone in this video called the shooter evil. Yes, his deed was dark... very dark. Yet people need to look deeper and ask themselves HOW did this great society of ours create such a person -- there are so many of them. Was it the availability of guns? How about the lack of mental health care? How about the despair of our young people over bullying and other abuses? How about broken families? How about the lack of love given them. A person who is loved, and knows it, never kills like this. The shooter is a victim too. Most people don't want to hear that, but it's true. A bullied and abused person eventually goes mad. Beat up on someone long enough and they WILL strike out. It's human nature. So, look at our television and our movies. How do those fictional characters solve their problems? Many times with guns and fists. And why are violent gun-based videos created and made available to children and teenagers, and considered entertainment? When I turn on my TV, it isn't long until I see a gun in someone's face -- and then another, and another... Wake up, America. We are being programmed into violence. We are being manipulated by money-interests. If you want to stop violence, stop what is creating violence. It's not as simple as guns. Even so -- it is absolutely absurd that assault weapons are so readily available. So, ask yourself: Does the politician whom I voted for condone easy access to weapons? Sadly, the Republican leaders vote for guns. Do you vote Republican? Then count yourself as part of the problem. And do you vote against mental health care and other such public services designed to support families? Then count yourself as part of the problem. And do you chose to never complain to government and the movie industry about violent content in movies and on TV? Use this experience to re-think and re-imagine what our country can be. Use your voice. State your concerns. Then, and only then, these little darlings and their teachers have not died in vane. Be kind to the parents and surround them with love.

Because hes either to angry to think, and just learn about the problem, or likewise yet worse, faking outrage and spreading misinformation on purpose. People are dying. You have to actually care enough to learn about the issue. Not just yell incorrect things because you don't understand whats happening....

  • This is devastating of course but how are gun laws going to prevent a person who is clearly mentally ill and doesn’t care about murdering innocent children from doing what he has done. We need to find better solutions than simply just implementing stricter gun laws because that will have little to no effect. Chicago has the strictest gun laws in the country and they have the most shootings and deaths by gun violence every single year. WE NEED to implement solutions that are actually feasible and effective

    • @swordboy5477 im all for gun control , but if you actually think a cute little background check is going to deter school shooters from what they are going to do , you’d be delusional. Let me remind you he was 18 years old. Even if they were to run a background check on him, how many 18 year olds do you know who have criminal backgrounds. He would’ve passed with flying colors and carried out what he always intended. Also I gave you a statistic where Chicago has the strictest gun control laws in the country yet they lead the nation in gun violence every year. How could you explain that lack of correlation ?

    • @swordboy5477 gun culture is the problem, that is the point. I want more gun control myself, but there are sadly so many guns in circulation, that if some sick individual wants to do this, how are we gonna stop them from illegally getting one of the hundreds of millions of guns in this country?

  • Well said Mr Kerr. It's Irresponsible and Disgraceful what's going on in Washington. There has to be a way to remove those Senators who voted against Gun reform. If voting is the only way ten damit do it then for Godsake.

  • "The Greatest Nation in the world", where my girlfriend, an elementary school teacher, sends me a message every now and then, saying "We're in lockdown, again. We don't know what's happening, my desk is infront of the door. I love you!"... The only thing I can do at that moment is text back "I love you! Stay safe!!". When is enough? How long do kids and teachers have to be scared for their lives in SCHOOL???

    • The US is the greatest nation in the world when you include everything and have proper context. NO nation in human history has had the combination the US has had of power, influence, wealth, quality of life, accomplishments, medical breakthroughs, correct orientation toward human rights, openness, individualism, tolerance and democracy, the longevity of democracy, the universal ideas of the US, and the mechanisms of government, as well as the minds of Americans constantly questioning to improve, to continue to make America better. The criticisms, which are legion, and many of which are justifiably so are incorrect in their implication which, without saying so, implies that the numerous problems of America across an array of topics, stand in stark negative contrast to another nation or nations, that they would imply is better. The problem is that no such nation, which has been large, diverse, influential, and heavily engaged in numerous complex conflicts in the world, has ever been as good, much less better, than the US on the balance of good intentions, positive impact, and ability to channel influence and power into positive impact. Analogous nations, whether the imperial powers of Europe, Persia, Rome, Egypt, Mongolia, China, or any other major nation through history, have a track record of enslavement, colonization, and destruction compared to that of the US. Now, a common argument against this point is that America has done its own fair share of destruction and colonization, a legitimate argument. But if one took a serious look, one could not argue that the pure colonization, enslavement, and/or destruction of weaker nations that was a common practice in human affairs for thousands of years compares to morally ambiguous wars going askew, instances of torture, war crimes, and American involvement for the collection of resources. Lest I sound flippant and reductive of these major mistakes, I readily acknowledge that the list of American terrible mistakes is long and makes one seriously question anyone who would claim America has a divine morally objective right to decide the world. But even in saying that, the reality is that human nature is such, and conflict between nations, and the humans that make them up, has made conflicts between nations so intense, harsh and ambiguous, that even the very spotty record of the US sets them apart from any other nation that had a major role in history. I have heard people say that this may be true, but this is only because America is the world super power in a time in human history where human rights are given more importance than ever before, a time when we have the knowledge and human capacity to be more reticent with our power, and that America is not so much better in this more enlightened time than previous powers, who operated before society was more fully conscious of tolerance and rights of the other. I find that a somewhat compelling argument, but I would say that this “more enlightened world” has only become so as the result of a relative acceleration toward that affect that kicked into high gear right after the end of WW2, right as Pax Americana started. So the whole context of the modern era necessitating more care for human rights and the other, has only come about so strongly because of specific American actions and influence. I hear other arguments against America being the greatest nation in the world in the sphere of social, economic, racial and other societal measures. I would say that it is clear that there are certain smaller nations that have a higher average quality of life than the US, but for one, likely all of those nations are able to do so secure in the peaceful liberal world order overseen by the United States. More importantly, the typed of nations, generally the smaller European nations, are specific nation archetypes that will always be more oriented toward high quality of life provided that there is a powerful “Arsenal of Democracy,” allowing them to focus on their betterment. Essentially, if all liberal democratic nations were like New Zealand or Denmark or Finland in power, influence, and general nature, the world would be completely dominated by autocrats, authoritarians, fascists and all other forms of illiberal government. This is not a knock on nations like Denmark, but it should be said to recognize that in the real world, certain nations need to take the role of liberal democratic in orientation, but powerful and engaged in the world, and power and engagement necessitates aspects in a nation that would make it impossible to have the highest average quality of life and most spotless moral record, aspects like large population and economy for a powerful military, as well as a willingness to get your hands dirty and engage in so many conflicts to a point where you are eventually forced into doing morally ambiguous things. This isn’t to completely absolve the US of all the wrong its one, but it is important in contextualizing the situation. For the benefit of nations like Denmark, there have to be democratic nations like the US who become such nations that pure average quality of life can never match the likes of Denmark. Of course even within this context, the US can make changes to make life better, but those are at the comparative margins when we understand the type of nation the US. An aside should also be that one of the things brought up, healthcare, is not discussed in a fair way. There are certain things the US could improve in healthcare, but the narrative of free healthcare in foreign nations while Americans go bankrupt is very inaccurate in its implications. Besides the fact that foreigners much pay more in taxes and thus have less money for other material things, the US system does not have the same rationing and waiting time as others do. Furthermore, the US system comes up with the most advancements for healthcare and medicine, which other nations then use. Therefore, other nations’ quality of healthcare is higher because of America’s specific system, which is then pilloried. Additionally, the US system has the ability to more effectively treat urgent aspects of diseases. This isn’t to say the US system is better, it is to provide context to show that the disparity isn’t as wide as made seem, even though I think the US could learn some aspects from other nations. And this applies to most “examples” of lower quality in the US. And of course this is in the context of the aforementioned fact that for the flourishing of small peaceful democracies, there need to be an Arsenal of Democracy, which will then by its nature have a lower average quality of life. Even with all of this known, no nation as large and diverse as the US in human history has veer had close to as high an average quality of life. When you combine it with power, influence, accomplishments, longevity of democracy, institutions that orient the nation toward improving, and mix of pure power with emphasis on morality and understanding of its own imperfections, no nation in history comes close to the US. It might not have the top average quality of life in absolute terms, but when put into proper context, no nation compares to the US
