    • @Olli-lfe he was given up by his mother. His mother is on KZworld and is a confused adult as far as I can tell with what she said in the short KZworld video. She's definitely off I heard that the father wasn't in his life, he also admitted in KZworld and he said he was involved in drugs and therefore didn't have anything to do with his son. He was raised by his grandmother and that's the person he shot before going to the school and shooting so many kids and the two teacher's. But, the picture of what I gathered is that the boy didn't have the means to buy all that stuff he used to shoot anyone

Nonetheless having a safe, stable, affiming, and loving family that will guide you to becoming a grounded productive member of society is paramount for a prosperous society. And yes they need to find out where he got this stuff.

    • Blame the NRA, and the politicians taking their paychecks so as to not move on any kind of common sense gun reform. Eg, gun show loophole, raising age of eligibility, extensive background checks (that's the middle ground approach btw). Is it going to inconvenience good gun owners? Yep, marginally. But it could save a lot of lives potentially.

Never a day goes by that I don't think if him, that I don't long to hold him and that I don't wander to know how he would look like today. He would be a handsome man, a father, oh, how I wonder... and so life goes on until I see him again.

I do not want the grieve that those parents have. If we have to ban guns, or make it more difficult for people to obtain them I will support. We are losing our children over an object. We are losing our children over a fear that our own government is out to get us. My child is more important than that. Thank you Mr. McConaughey for taking the lead on this. I really hope we get things better before she is old enough for school. I would not be able to bear losing her that way.

When they feel and experience what it’s like for someone they love be taken away by gun violence nothing will change. Nothing has thus far changed and every human life lost to cowardly acts of gun violence should be an exception and not the norm in our lives. Change the laws, change the narrative, stop the violence.

  • I am so grateful and appreciative that Matthew came forward to say these things for these children who don't have a voice anymore. Gritted teeth and tears, I am writing this now and just praying that if anything gets through to these lawmakers and people in charge, that this speech is what does it. I don't know what kind of cold hearted and uncaring person you have to be to listen to this entire speech without feeling moved by it. Hell even I feel like driving to Texas and helping these families. I don't know why it's weighing so heavy on me but it hurts as if I had lost one of my own. But that's just it, I can't even imagine what these parents and family members are going through right now. As soon as he said AR-15 and mortuary in the same as sentence, talking about little babies who just started their lives, not that I hadn't been crying through the entire thing but that was what sent me over the edge. I'm so angry. They changed laws about cigarettes. You have to be 16 to operate motor vehicle in 21 to buy cigarettes and beer but you can be 18 and buy a semi-automatic with practically no training or background checks and it's completely legal. Not to mention the police officers that were standing outside ignoring family members yelling at them. It's not like they were doing anything anyway they could have consoled those people, calmed them, helped them. Hell if I was there I would hope that a police officer would let me run in there if they weren't going to. Cuz that Mama got her two babies out of there while every single one of them stayed back. They know what they're getting themselves into. They know they're putting their lives on the line but yet they were far too cowardly. I wonder if those gunshots still ring in their ears while they sat back and scolded him and told him they just want to talk instead of rushing in there and risking their own lives, lives already well lived, to give those babies a chance. So they could be heroes and self-sacrifice. Instead they just did back for more than an hour and I assume most of the children were out by then except for the ones that... This really is tearing me apart and I wish there was something I could do but I am so very grateful that there was someone high up enough that people would take serious that was from that small town. I really hope that this beach has gotten them talking. He did an excellent job at delivering this in such a way that it just really makes you mentally visualize each one of these children as more than just number one through 19 or names on a cross that should never have been there in the first place.

He is not just an actor…he is hardly an actor actually…he does so much more that you don’t even know about obviously. He runs programs for children, speaks out against family violence and raises money along with spending his own to better communities all over! He is also a parent and a husband, a fellow human who before college was just a regular guy…actually he is still a regular guy here in Texas!

That says to me he was avoiding the spotlight. - so much avoiding eye contact. You can tell from that and his other mannerisms just how absolutely gutted he is for these people. 😔❤️‍🩹

  • I tried not to watch this because i KNEW my heart might not be able to deal with the pain of hearing about those precious babies, but i continued to listen because he held my attention..... At the end it wasn't just pain i felt but also SHAME. I feel shame that i live in a country where something is clearly wrong when we cannot keep our children from being murdered while going to school. 😞 I am not believing that guns are the problem here but the hands they fall in of unstable sick people. Yes my family owns guns and we are respinsible and stable but i can honestly say that if any family member seemed unstable at any time them I'd do everything in my power to make sure they never got anywhere near those firearms. I don't know what the answer is here but clearly something needs done....these people shooting places up should not be able to get their hands on any firearm at all. Im ok with giving up conveniences if it means something is done to prevent these kinds of unstable people to get their hands on a firearm.

  • Heartbreaking and wrong that it can even happen, I live in the UK where at one point I had a lot of guns. But gun ownership is only allowed to people who are mentally checked, old enough and who are not criminals. Simple, sensible checks starting with consent from your doctor. As for the devastating firepower of the guns available, high capacity, high rate of fire automatics like AR15's are weapons of mass murder. Every life matters.

  • The first time that I have heard anyone speak, so eloquently, about the lives of those murdered. Usually it's a sort of run through the list of names once or twice, and a sort of "Oh well, cost of doing business for the American dream". But like he says, it shouldn't be. Every American child, man or woman should have the opportunity to live their lives in safety from being targeted and shot. It was a beautiful speech, now back it up with some action.

  • "Uvalde is where I learned to REVERE the power and capability of the tool we call a GUN". It's not something anyone should revere. It is created for one thing kill. To pull the trigger and watch something or someones lights go out permanently. Only police and military should have guns. The speech is beautiful. Visiting the families, brave and kind, but Americans revering guns and their right to own one is just sad. As is the constant reminder with the continuing deaths of these precious young souls, nothing is ever done.
