Well, in GOW they are more villainous than their real counterparts, who are also no better and jerks too. Personally I never liked Greek Gods (especially Zeus, who calls himself a God of Justice, but also abuses and disobeys his own rules, thus becoming no better than his father Cronos and grandfather Ouranos) with the exception of Hades maybe (even though he is shown as the God of the Dead, he is still more reasonable and morally good than other his brethren).

I’d make an exception for poseidon (maybe), hades and hercules. Hades and hercules didn’t ask for mercy or try to justify kratos sparing them when the fight turned against them and although poseidon did give reasons, they were somewhat logical compared to what the other gods told kratos before death
